We share a common vision to create a thriving music industry, recognized for its economic impact on the city of Asheville. As we highlight the successes and achievements of the local music scene, we will also provide a resource for educating both the community and the tourism industry about Asheville's rich musical heritage. We believe that artists and professionals should be able to make music both as a livelihood and for the sake of art in and of itself. By building a culture that supports musicians both financially and emotionally, we hope to serve as a model to inspire other communities to do the same. The ability of those working in music to earn a living wage or better is imperative to the quality of life in a culturally vibrant city. By setting goals and working together as a collaborative creative community, we'll achieve this vision.
AMP strives to be a common voice for the people who work and thrive in the music industry and community of Western North Carolina .
In 2018, we launched the AMPed Database showcasing bands, individuals, venues and other professionals in the WNC music industry.
AMP offers free workshops, panels, events and socials on a monthly basis.
AMP became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit at the beginning of 2015.
